Sorry Gaile, but chances are the goal of eliminating soloists most likely has not been accomplished. This is more detrimental to those who group.
|
That's actually untrue.
All soloists use AoE Damage (B-Aura/SoW/etc). Now, as someone else stated, people will practically have to accept Hydromancers/Mesmers/Necros/Rangers in their groups. How is that worst for people who wish to group? It's not. This is what the game needed. Some diversity in PvE and actually something that made it more challenging.

Don't post your mindless dribble. Use your brain and post something other than l33tsp34k, whine whine whine, lame Runescape tales, etc...if you don't have a point that is relevant to the update, avoid posting.

Anet keeps making changes to reduce the effectiveness of farming, right? There is an extremely simple fix that would kill farming entirely. Remove person to person trade. I would rather see that than update after update that totally nerfs skills and builds. This has gone on for too long. Sell everything to merchants, buy everthing from merchants. This is a role playing game, not an economy game.

The entire fire line may as well be deleted. This update is instead of giving the fire line it's much needed buffing, a skullRED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO instead. Enjoy your AIDS.

I like the update.
For those who complain, you were pretty much the reason why PvE was so boring in the first place. Maybe now players will bring someonthing else besides FIRE magic and people might actually...you know, think for themselves.
Although I much prefer PvP, PvE is a bit of a challenge right now and no longer accepts cookie cutter builds.

Sekkira,
What do you mean buffing up Fire skills? Anyone who knows how to press the keypads 1 through 8 could nuclear. Now, you actually have to use OTHER skills and other strats rather than getting the warrior to aggro and the nuclears to kill them.

Thanks Guild Wars...but...
Hello everyone, after reading all the posts and giving
this last update some serious thought I wanted to share
my feelings and I think that many people who play GW
like myself may be feeling the same things. First of
all, I have been playing GW since it's public release on
April 28th and have accumulated several million exp
points on 2 different charcters. These 2 characters
completed the game 100%, every mission, every bonus,
every quest and I enjoyed it immensely. After that, I
enjoyed very much seeking out rare and perfect weapons,
my fissure armor, my 1000p in storage, I really enjoy
the thrill in treasure hunting, my favorite axe is a
6-20 tribal, or my 6-20 sickle, I love rare and/or
awesome looking items. But now, with all of these
things accomplished, I find myself looking for more, I
used to love solo ing the UW, just because to me it was
fun wondering what rare drop I might get, even the
previous solo nerfs were very much welcomed by me since
I had to re-invent how I solo, btw, I can still solo
everywhere that I could before this last update, even
the UW, only, it takes me a tiny bit longer, no big
deal, but what this last update did confirm to me is
that I had been fooling myself, this game is about
teamwork, it is not meant to be played the way I enjoyed
playing it, I don't like pvp, never have, I do however
like the community and co-op missions, but they only
last for so long, I thought the Halloween event was
amazing, I found myself laughing out loud on several
occasions, but this is not enough, and sadly I realize
that even chapter 2 will not fufill what it is I am
looking for, I want to search for rare items, I want to
log in and quickly treasure hunt by myself sometimes,
but this is not what GW is all about and the devs told
us that right from the beginning, so here is point, I am
not bashing GW at all, I very much got my money's worth
from the game, it is an awesome game, however, like
myself, perhaps some other players need to examine what
it is that they need from a game, and if their needs are
like mine, then maybe GW is not for us...after all, it was
never intended to be. So, I truly hope GW will remain
strong and the players will remain happy, thank you for
reading and thanks for the fun 6 months

I complain about the update so that means I was making it boring? Yeah, good rock solid point you have there, Einstein. I do have a Fire Ele, but I also have...lets see, a MONK, a RANGER, and a WARRIOR. Hmm, my FAVORITE classes weren't touched by the trash-update, but that doesn't make the update any less trash.

i never complained about the game before, i've never disagreed with any update until now.
THANKS ArenaNet for screwing my Fire Elementalist
not only did you screw farmers (which i disgust, but that's a different issue) you also screwed every normal player that likes fire element.
good job!!

You mean 99.9999999% of elementalists? Everyone likes them because if you're high, drunk and blind, you could nuke effectively.

Let me see...in order to make a good PvE group pre-build, all you need was a buttRED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO load of warriors, one or two nukers, and two monks.
Yep, no room for mesmers, necros, and rangers. Gotta love isolating other classes from playing the game.
You were probably one of those type of people who wouldn't let a mesmer in because they don't deal 3000000 damage in 2 seconds.

To be fair, I don't believe we should have ever expected it in the first place, like I said, this last update did not kill the way I like to play, It just confirmed to me that Anet does not want players like myself, and I suppose that is fair enough
Oh ya sorry about the funky spacing on my first post, don't quite know what happened there

What do you mean "What do you mean buffing up fire skills?"?
Every single class can outdamage the elementalist, the class that's supposed to be the damage dealer, particularly the fire line. Now on top of being completely useless (aside from the three altar maps in TotPK) in PvP, they also have no place in PvE either.
Warriors were tanks (not all I know) absorbing all the damage and you'd have the casters in the back line doing their thing. That doesn't exactly work anymore. You usually throw AoE on that mob laying into the tanks. That AoE now breaks aggro, and oh look, those casters are in range. Now for the battlefield to turn to complete chaos as the tanks job is useless and an elementalist can only scatter enemies, not do the damage they're supposed to do. On top of that, all the squishies are running around as headless chickens just like the mobs.
By disabling this concept of AoE, it's been rendered useless, changing the face of PvE as we know it completely.
District 1 of Ring of Fire:
"Looking for a tank... I mean... Err... A warrior... A... Umm.. Ranger... Err... How will this work... Lets just bring all warriors and rangers as they have a lot of armour!"

Are you serious? Reread what you just typed. First you say in order to make a good group, all you needed was warriors, nukers, monks. No room for the rest. Then you say I'm probably one of the people who wouldn't let a mesmer in? LOL.
Not that I so much as even agree on that uber leet party makeup.
With 1,500 hours played, 10 characters+, a pantsfull of PvP and GvG experience, and being an established guild leader for 6 months, I think I know when it's advantageous to bring certain class along. Best time to bring a fire ele now (oh, or smiting monk, or AoE mesmer, etc. etc.)? Never. Unless you have at least 2 other characters only concentrating in keeping those enemies in the AoE. Not worth it, to say the least.
As someone so eloquently put it earlier...

Update - Thursday, November 10
* Improved the character name and guild name entry dialogs.
* Improved AI so that henchmen and monsters can now detect and flee from area-effect damage spells.
* Improved AI so that monsters will eventually stop chasing fleeing players.
* Slightly reduced the power of the Doppelganger creature.
* Fixed a bug which could cause certain animated ground cover to not be animated.
* Fixed a bug which could cause two copies of Gwen to appear in pre-searing Ascalon.
* Fixed a bug with certain enemies not attacking players in the Gates of Kryta mission.
* Fixed an exploit which could allow players to create PvP characters with invalid armor. Thanks to Derek Ravenclaw for reporting this.
There is already a threed about farm nerf (it got closed pretty quick) about AOE is causing mobs to scatter. I honestly don't think that was there goal, it looks like PvE got a bit harder (no complaints from me)
This screams if the monsters are beating you, retreat and regroup it gets to hot.
